Take Me Out to the Ball Game
Lifer Cindy was excited to hear that she and the other Lifers were going to attend a Richmond Flying Squirrels game. “This was the first time I’ve ever been to a stadium to watch any type of game so it was pretty cool!” Aside from the foot long hot dogs, Cindy’s favorite part of the experience was being able to interact and rendezvous with her peers outside of recovery based classes. “Just being there with the REAL LIFE crew was very memorable for me.” These type of experiences help those in recovery learn how to rely on others and ask for help rather than handling things alone. Cindy and the other Lifers’ recovery was strengthened through building community and bonding over America’s past time, while engaging in pro social activities, something very important within the program.
