Family Sunday: Abbie

We are continuing #FamilySunday, our family reunification stories, this week with Abbie, a Lifer, Alumni, and current Recovery Corps staff. When Abbie first joined REAL LIFE, she wasn’t able to speak with her oldest son. However, as she progressed in the program and demonstrated her reliability and commitment, she gradually earned the opportunity to see him. It was a slow and steady process of rebuilding trust and proving her dedication to recovery. Over time, their visits became more frequent, and they enjoyed spending time together at the park and playing video games.

Abbie was overjoyed last year when she was able to buy him Christmas presents for the first time. As she stayed committed to her sobriety, she was invited to join her family on their Florida vacation. There, she reunited with other family members that she hadn’t seen in years.

Abbie is cherishing the chance to be part of her son’s life again and is excited about continuing to strengthen their relationship.
