C.T. Woody, Jr.

Sheriff C.T. Woody, Jr., REAL LIFE Board Member, brings decades of law enforcement and community leadership experience to the REAL LIFE Board of Directors. A Hanover County native, Sheriff Woody began his career in the military where he discovered a lifelong passion for helping others through his work in policing.

Elected Sheriff of Richmond in 2006, he quickly became known for transforming the city jail into a place focused on rehabilitation, dignity, and second chances. Under his leadership, a new Richmond City Justice Center was built, and the jail introduced innovative programs addressing education, family connection, and personal growth that emphasized the importance of family and redemption.

Sheriff Woody joined REAL LIFE’s Board after his retirement, continuing his mission to break cycles of incarceration and empower returning citizens. He believes deeply in the organization’s work, knowing firsthand that with compassion, guidance, and opportunity, people can change their lives for the better.
