Meet Us Monday: Melissa, Board Member

Melissa is a familiar face and voice to many in Richmond. She has built a career centered on storytelling, connection, and giving people something to feel good about. Melissa is a Kent State University graduate and began her career in media while still in college, landing an internship at Q94 in Richmond that quickly turned into an on-air role. That experience set the course for a long and impactful career in radio and television.

Over the years, Melissa has served not only as a morning show host but also in leadership roles, including Program Director, Operations Manager, and Vice President of Market for radio in Houston. After the pandemic, she came back to Richmond and into television, where she now hosts and helps shape a local lifestyle show designed to highlight nonprofits, small businesses, and the people doing meaningful work in our community.

Melissa’s connection to REAL LIFE goes back many years. She first met Dr. Sarah Scarbrough through media work and has supported REAL LIFE through radio segments, community events, the coat drive, and most recently as the host of our golf tournament. What resonates most with her is REAL LIFE’s belief in second chances and the way it creates space for people to change their lives.

She lives in Richmond with her husband, Tyler, and has two daughters, London and Ruby. Outside of work, Melissa is proudly crafty and can usually be found with a glue gun in hand. She loves camping, music festivals, and making resin charms from four-leaf clovers she finds and gives away for good luck.
