Community Peace Walk in Honor of Jennie Scher

Posted: January 30, 2025 | Author: Real Life Staff
Our Project SAF (Safe, Alive, and Free) team recently completed a Community Peace Walk in honor of Jennie Scher, a Jewish Russian immigrant who left a lasting impact on the Richmond community. Our team walked through the Ashley Oaks Apartments complex and visited 152 addresses while reflecting on her life of service.

An advocate for those in need, Jennie Scher was a charter and board member of the Hebrew Sick Aid Society and served as President and Treasurer of the Ladies’ Hebrew Aid Society. Her unwavering commitment to helping others continues to inspire us. In recognition of her contributions, the road running through what is now the Ashley Oaks Apartments complex has been named Jennie Scher Road since 1941. We are grateful for the life that she led, and we hope to also make a lasting impact with our message of peace.
