Lawrenceville Correctional Center Facilitator Training

Posted: December 18, 2024 | Author: Real Life Staff
We’re excited to share the launch of our Domestic Violence Prevention Program (Real Talk) Facilitator Training, in partnership with the Virginia Department of Health! This initiative empowers inmates at Lawrenceville Correctional Center (Virginia Department of Corrections) to take an active role in addressing the root causes of domestic violence. By focusing on the myths of masculinity, fostering empathy, and promoting accountability, the program prepares participants to lead conversations that drive positive change.

With the upcoming release of these 50 inmates in mind, this program is a vital step toward building safer, more supportive communities. Tommy, REAL LIFE Domestic Violence Prevention Coach, says, “I was highly impressed with their willingness to participate and their motivation for positive change in their lives. It was amazing to not only see all of my own hard work come together, but I learned a lot from these men.”

Facilitation of the program is set to begin in 2025, and we couldn’t be more proud of the dedication and progress shown by these individuals. Together, we’re working toward a future of healing, understanding, and transformation.
