REAL LIFE Alumni Dinner

Posted: October 30, 2024 | Author: Real Life Staff
Yesterday evening we had the great honor of celebrating 11 Lifers who have continued to thrive and grow in their recovery at our first annual Alumni Dinner. The recent creation of the REAL LIFE Alumni Program was developed in response to a critical need for continued community and connection for Lifers beyond the six-month graduation mark. At the Alumni Dinner, eleven graduates achieved alumni status, receiving a custom REAL LIFE letterman jacket and certificate.

How did these graduates achieve alumni status? After they graduate from our rigorous six month program, they have multiple steps to complete over three consecutive months including: attending two REAL LIFE alumni meetings a month, attending 4 additional REAL LIFE classes a month, completing 2 to 3 of the graduate curriculum modules a week, attending four non-REAL LIFE recovery meetings a month, and speaking with their sponsor four times a month.

Dyer, a new REAL LIFE alum and Peer House Leader, says of the ceremony, “the dinner was a wonderful celebration of love and hope.” Dyer was seated at a dinner table with his dad and fellow Lifers and graduates. “The blessings over this last year have been unbelievable and when I look in the mirror, I see a man I have not seen in two decades.”

There wasn’t a dry eye in the house after hearing three graduates-turned-alumni speak. It was inspiring to hear story after story of lives put back together, fresh hope, family reunification, and a brighter future. As the evening came to a close, a buzz of excitement filled the air, with everyone eagerly anticipating which graduates would be honored at next year’s celebration.

Congratulations to our new REAL LIFE alumni! We are so proud of all you have achieved and we can’t wait to continue to celebrate your accomplishments!
