Peer of the Year: Melissa T.

SAARA of Virginia held their Voices for Recovery Luncheon and Awards Ceremony at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens today. We are also grateful for all SAARA of Virginia and the other Peer of the Year nominees are doing to promote recovery in Virginia.

Melissa is a graduate of REAL LIFE and is now on staff as a Pathway Navigator. She was nominated for this award by her REAL LIFE colleagues because of her ability to be open and dedicated to her clients.

In her nomination, REAL LIFE Deputy Director Jessica said “Melissa has professionally come into her own. She is confident in her decisions while remaining teachable. She is always ready to learn more, to help, and to progress further into her career.” Similarly, one of her recent Lifers shared: “Melissa was informative, strict, held me accountable, and yet, at the same time, she was understanding and caring of my situation.”

When asked how she felt about this outstanding recognition, Melissa replied, “I am only able to do what I do because of my fabulous leaders at REAL LIFE. Peer of the Year for the state of Virginia is an honor, and recovery is possible! Five years clean and a lifetime to go!”
