Recovery Month: Melissa
Posted: September 30, 2025 | Author: Real Life Staff
Today marks the final day of
#NationalRecoveryMonth
, and we’re closing it out by lifting up one of our team members.
Melissa, a REAL LIFE alumna and now a dedicated Pathway Navigator, has turned her own recovery journey into hope and guidance for others.
“The most valuable lesson I’ve learned in recovery is that healing is not about perfection—it’s about persistence.” For Melissa, now 6 years and 4 months sober, progress has come through small, steady steps. “Recovery isn’t built in giant leaps—it’s built in small, steady steps… If I can be at least 1% better than I was yesterday, that is progress worth celebrating.”
Melissa continues, “That is the lesson I carry with me, and it’s the one I want to share with anyone who is still struggling: you are not alone, and it’s never too late to begin again.”
Melissa, thank you for reminding us that recovery is built one step at a time. Your voice brings hope, and we invite everyone reading to share a word of encouragement below.
