REAL LIFE Graduation: Honoring Transformation and Triumph

Posted: August 2, 2025 | Author: Real Life Staff
REAL LIFE graduations seem to get better every time, and our most recent ceremony was no exception. We celebrated 26 incredible Lifers who have put in the work to change their lives and create a new future.

The ceremony opened with inspiring words from Mayor Danny Avula, who reminded the graduates of what their achievement truly represents: “What you all are getting today is more than just a certificate. It’s a symbol of your choice, your consistency, your effort, and the transformation that’s happened.” He went on to capture the heart of the REAL LIFE mission: “This isn’t just about sober living—it’s about transforming your whole life: behavioral change, structural change, employment, education, and reconnecting with family and purpose.”

Graduate and Peer House Leader Chris shared his powerful story of transformation, reflecting on a quote that hangs at the REAL LIFE Community Center: “Hardships often prepare ordinary people for extraordinary destinies. My hardships led me to REAL LIFE, so thank you for preparing an ordinary person like me for an extraordinary destiny.” He continued, “I went from being a full-blown addict without hope to a clean, working house leader, who now has the trust and respect of his family again.”
Music has always been a meaningful part of our ceremonies, and this time we had the pleasure of an incredible father-son drum performance by Housing Manager Young and his son Ty.

After recognition for some of our male Peer House Leaders for completing a leadership training, Young closed the ceremony with a heartfelt message that says it all: “We are not only proud of you—we salute you.”
