Project SAF Takes Action in Operation Safe Summer

Dr. Scarbrough shared: “We are really excited to partner with the City of Richmond for Operation Safe Summer, which aligns with Project SAF (Safe, Alive and Free), our violence intervention program. While we have been carrying out SAF for about a year in Richmond on a smaller scale, we are excited as we ramp up and really focus on both Fairfield and Mosby Courts.”

Project SAF is focused on prevention through presence, mentorship, and connection. As part of the operation, our Project SAF team is engaging directly with youth and families in neighborhoods hardest hit by gun violence, offering support, resources, and safe, meaningful activities.

By showing up consistently and offering positive alternatives, Project SAF is working to keep youth safe, alive, and free—and help create a Richmond where everyone has the chance to thrive.
