Recent REAL LIFE graduate and new Peer House Leader JD was born and raised in Kentucky. JD had what he describes as a typical childhood, graduated high school, and college at Alabama State University. When he returned to Virginia, he began using drugs and committing crimes, which landed him in jail.
REAL LIFE was proposed to him, and he was originally put off by all of the rules and requirements. After working the program for a while, he realized that the structure was what he needed.
When asked what he was looking forward to about being a Peer House Leader, JD said, “I’m going to take the time to get to know these people and try to better their lives, the same way others in the program have done for me.”
