Meet Us Monday: Steven Tyler, Pathway Navigator

Posted: January 8, 2024 | Author: Real Life Staff

For today’s #MeetUsMonday, we’re introducing you to Pathway Navigator Steven Tyler.

Steven grew up in Gloucester County, Virginia and dropped out of high school in 11th grade. At age 17, he went to prison for five years and had 3 kids when he got out. He ended up in prison twice more after that for various infractions. His third incarceration was a turning point for him. He requested a prison with a rehabilitation program, and he became invested in it. He went to all of the therapeutic group meetings, started facilitating groups, and became a peer mentor.

His experiences in the program helped him discover his purpose; to help others turn their lives around the way he did. He went to community college and started working on his associates degree in Human Services. He then decided to get his Peer Recovery Specialist Certification and reached out to REAL LIFE to start earning hours towards this program. He now is on staff as a Pathway Navigator and assisting is with Project SAF. Welcome to the team, Steven!
