Meet Us Monday: Michael P., Peer House Leader

Meet Michael P., our featured Peer House Leader for this week’s Meet Us Monday. Originally from North Carolina, Michael experienced a life-altering tragedy at the age of three, losing both his mother and brother in a horrific accident. Taken in by his grandparents, he was raised on a farm where they provided him with a simple life. With his father in and out of his life as a truck driver, Michael eventually turned to drugs and alcohol during his teenage years, leading to a cycle of addiction and incarceration that lasted over 30 years.

Recently, Michael had a profound realization: he felt he had nothing to show for his life and was ready to break free from the hold addiction had on him. “This has been the turning point of my life,” he shares. “The REAL LIFE program has done miracles for me.”

So, what made the difference? For Michael, it was the module books provided by the program. “I’ve read several of the modules multiple times. They really change your thinking process. I didn’t just read it—I actually applied myself.” With this new focus and commitment, Michael is embracing his role as a Peer House Leader with optimism and gratitude, eager to help others find the same hope and transformation that have made all the difference in his life.
