Meet Us Monday: Julie, REAL LIFE Board of Directors

Julie, originally from St. Louis, Missouri, relocated to Richmond 19 years ago with her husband and daughter. What was meant to be a short stay turned into building a life in Richmond, raising their two children in a community that became home. Julie began her career in education as a teacher, and she now works at a Richmond private school in admissions.

Julie’s connection to REAL LIFE began through her husband’s work, but she quickly came to love its mission and impact. She joined the REAL LIFE board 18 months ago, saying, “After working with REAL LIFE in volunteer capacities, and seeing the impact they have in the community, I wanted to be a part of that.”

She was particularly impressed by REAL LIFE’s growth and its initiatives, specifically the Recovery Houses and Violence Prevention. “They have brought in Lifers who have lived through these experiences to connect with those they’re trying to help,” Julie says, “that was just very inspiring to me.”
