Meet Us Monday: Demetrius, Peer House Leader

For this week’s #MeetUsMonday, we are excited to introduce Demetrius, a Peer House Leader at REAL LIFE. Born in Norfolk, VA, Demetrius grew up in a Christian home with parents who were educators. He briefly attended Virginia Union University, where he also played football. However, during his college years, he was introduced to drugs, which marked the beginning of his struggle with addiction.

In the summer of 2022, after years of substance use and incarceration, he reached a turning point and decided it was time for a change. This decision eventually led him to REAL LIFE, where he continues to dedicate himself to supporting others who are navigating similar challenges. Demetrius is passionate about helping others find their path to recovery.

Demetrius is deeply connected to his family, which includes four adult children, one of whom serves in the Air Force. He has rebuilt these relationships and found fulfillment in his role at REAL LIFE. Looking ahead, Demetrius hopes to expand his work in the field of recovery, continuing to support those working through the challenges he once faced.
