Meet Us Monday: Abbie, Recovery Navigator with Americorps

For this #MeetUsMonday, we are highlighting Abbie, a Peer Navigator with REAL LIFE through Americorps! Born and raised in Florida, Abbie moved to Amelia, VA, in 2013 and later to the Richmond area in 2019. She faced challenges with substance use starting in 2014 but has been in recovery and thriving since 2021! Abbie found a fresh start with REAL LIFE in October 2022. She graduated from the program, became a Peer House Leader, and now serves as an AmeriCorps member, helping others on their own journeys.

She facilitates workforce readiness, creates resumes for new clients, and recently started assisting with technology. Abbie is passionate about giving back and hopes to continue working in the recovery field to support others on their path to healing.

“I like working in recovery because it gives me a chance to give back and to help people get through what I went through,” Abbie says. “And I love working with REAL LIFE because I wholeheartedly believe in this program.” We’re so glad to have you on the REAL LIFE team, Abbie!
