Lifers Attend Human Trafficking Class at VCU
Posted: November 14, 2024 | Author: Real Life Staff
Recently, some of our female Lifers attended a class about Human Trafficking at VCU in the Homeland Security Department. The women were able to share their experiences with the students in the class.
Tauchanna, Senior Pathway Navigator, attended with them and said, “I could not be prouder of how well they expressed themselves and described their backgrounds and recovery journey. They said it felt good to “get it out” and that it was very therapeutic. They also said that it felt good to be listened to.”
One student commented, “It was inspiring to hear a story with such raw emotion. Each story had a common theme: resilience.” Another student from VCU said, “it was beautiful, inspiring, and also heartbreaking to hear these women’s stories of pain, recovery, and resilience. I hope everyone in REAL LIFE is able to feel empowered and remember that they are important in this world.”
We couldn’t agree more! Thank you, Lifers, for sharing your stories. Thank you to the students in Professor Moslow-Benway’s class for your warm welcome and your willingness to listen.
